The 2009 winners of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition Grand Prize, Linden String Quartet, is performing at the Howard Performing Arts Center as they tour across the Midwestern United States, as a part of the Winner’s Tour on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at 4:00 p.m.
Linden String Quartet members, Sarah McElravy (violin), Catherine Cosbey (violin), Eric Wong (viola), and Felix Umansky (cello) study together at the Cleveland Institute of Music in Cleveland, Ohio. The quartet won $7500 from the Grand Prize placement as well as $3000 for also winning the Gold Medal in the Senior String Division. In addition to the prize money and the Winner’s Tour the quartet has the privilege of participating in the Emilia Romagna Festival in Italy in 2010.

The Fischoff Competition, now in its 36th year, is the largest chamber music competition in the world. The competition is held in Notre Dame, Indiana and attracts young musicians from across the country and around the globe.

The Howard Performing Arts Center has hosted the Fischoff Competition Winners for the past four years including the N-E-W Trio, Prima Trio, Ariel Quartet, Lloyd Carr-Harris String Quartet.
