Violinist Carla Trynchuk and pianist Elena Braslavsky will be performing a recital including works by Beethoven, Grieg, Sibelius, and the Jewish Ukrainian composer Meitus.  Trynchuk, faculty at Andrews University, has performed internationally as soloist and recitalist in more than 15 countries.  Braslavsky, formerly a faculty member at The Juilliard School and the Mannes School of Music, currently serves on the piano faculty of the Mozarteum University of Salzburg.  Trynchuk and Braslavsky were classmates together at The Juilliard School.

ZaRiah is an award-winning emerging wind quintet celebrated for its vibrant artistry, dynamic performances, and meaningful connection with audiences. The ensemble made history as the Grand Prize winner of the 2026 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition—the first wind quintet to earn the honor in nearly 30 years—and also received First Prize at the Frances Walton Chamber Music Competition. Formed at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, ZaRiah’s members have performed internationally and with some of the world’s leading orchestras and ensembles. Dedicated to musical excellence and accessibility, the group is passionate about creating engaging performances while expanding access to chamber music in underserved communities.

A multiple Grammy and Dove Award winner, Phelps has achieved tremendous success through chart-topping recordings and sold-out performances. His unforgettable voice and powerful musical storytelling continue to captivate listeners across generations.

The Alumni Gala concert will feature all three university music ensembles - Andrews University Symphony Orchestra, Andrews University Wind Symphony, and Andrews University Choirs.  Come join us for this fun and festive concert on our university's alumni weekend.

Dr. Marc Élysée is a French-born professional musician whose distinguished career encompasses violin performance, music education, and orchestral conducting. Currently serving as Associate Professor of Music and Conductor of the Andrews University Symphony Orchestra, Dr. Élysée combines extensive musical training with a deep commitment to developing students as accomplished musicians, thoughtful collaborators, and dependable leaders.

Joining Dr. Élysée and the Andrews University Symphony Orchestra is acclaimed violinist Cristian Neacsu, who will perform Camille Saint-Saëns’ Violin Concerto No. 3. The program will also feature Maurice Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite and Igor Stravinsky’s Fireworks, Op. 4. Cristian Neacsu performs on a remarkable 1792 Venetian violin crafted by Pietro Valentino Novello.

Andrews University Choirs

The Andrews University Singers is the select choir of the Department of Music and represents Andrews University locally, nationally and abroad through concert tours, television broadcast and audio recordings. They have given highly acclaimed international concert tours throughout the countries of Great Britain, Iceland, Norway, Brazil, Zimbabwe, Chile, South Africa, Bahamas, Bermuda and Puerto Rico.
